WAFC Junior Football update

The West Australian Football Commission is pleased to confirm that the 2020 junior football season will commence in WA from Saturday, July 18, in line with WAFC Return to Play Guidelines and State Government Covid-19 restrictions.

With the easing of State Government restrictions to allow contact sport and group gatherings of up to 100 people from Saturday June 6, the WAFC will be working with all junior football competitions, clubs, umpires and volunteers to help finalise their safe return to play after the July school holidays.

Training Communications

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the 2020 Junior Football Season!

You will no doubt be across various rules and restrictions we need to work with in order to be able to train, let alone work towards actual games. They may be onerous, but as a Club we are committed to making this work for all players and parents.

We will be increasing communication over coming weeks via email, and regularly updating our facebook page. We will use our website to publish links and useful resources. Please familiarise yourself with the new requirements, and keep up to date via our media platforms as things have a habit of changing quickly.

When you return to training you’ll notice quite a few differences. Your coaches will all be trained in understanding the principles of COVID-19 infection control and hygiene, and we will be following protocols set out by the WAFC, State and Commonwealth Governments. Please give them your full support as we work through unfamiliar territory together.

I look forward to seeing all of you some day in the future when the season proper kicks off in earnest.

Stay safe!

PJFC – COVID-19 Update

Dear Palmyra Football Community,

The WAFC, in conjunction with the AFL and other State football bodies, has decided to postpone the start of the 2020 football season until 31 May 2020.

All Games, training, scratch matches and non-essential meetings and events are postponed until further notice.

The attached circular and media release provides some more context to the decision and flags some of the issues which will need to be worked through over coming weeks.

The PJFC will continue to engage with the WAFC to work through the consequences of this decision. We’re all committed to getting the best outcome under the circumstances, and will provide you with further updates as soon as possible. If you have any questions I am happy for you to email them to me, and we will do our best to answer them in due course.

Thanks in anticipation for your patience.

Rob Pini

Palmyra JFC Awarded by the EFDC

In what was recently a great night for the Club, Palmyra JFC won two awards at the annual East Fremantle District Football Development Committee annual awards evening.
First up, Ryan Bacich was named joint winner of the EFDC Junior Coach of the Year Award. Ryan has coached for many years, always with a great ‘team first’ attitude and emphasis on participation. Ryan was a key organiser of the Year 6 trip to Melbourne and has given countless hours to helping his players grow their love of the game and get the best out of themselves. He is highly regarded by players, parents and peers and is a fine example to all. Well done Ryan!
In the final award of the night, and for the second time in recent years, the Palmyra Junior Football Club was named Junior Club of the Year by the EFDFDC. The Award recognises the welcoming environment we create for our players, umpires, parents and opposition alike; our contribution to the District and growth of the game; and the way our players conduct themselves during games. It is the result of the hard work of many people over many years who have created the positive culture of the Club that we continue to develop and enjoy.
