We played Rossmoyne today for the Ralph O’Brien shield in recognition of the contribution Ralph and his family have made to both clubs. Both teams put on a great game in trying conditions. The effort from both sides would have made Ralph proud. It was a top effort today from everyone in the team in slippery and wet conditions. We lined up against Rossmoyne and after taking the win, we are finals bound next week. Today we were led by Aiden in the centre, the on ballers were all good and the attack on the footy (led by Curtis, Lliam and Mappy) in winning the hard ball today was first class. In the first half Buddha up forward was very good, Tyson scored a couple of goals and Chrisso enjoyed his stint forward with a couple of goals as well. The backs were well led today by Mischa, who had another good game, Rhys was solid in his pocket and the other 4 gave great support. We switched Jarrad, Rhys, Zac and Mischa down forward in the second half and they seemed to enjoy the change of scenery. Dan looked right at home on the wing and half forward as well. We’ve made the finals and that was our first goal. This is a great effort seeing we played many game short and with a few injuries. Thanks again to the 14’s for helping us out. Next week it is Melville and that will be a tough game. The coaches are confident that if we train hard this week and the boys keep continuing to play as a team we can win that game and keep going forward. The drills and plays we have been using at training were executed really well today and the sloppy conditions didn’t stop them being displayed. All round a great team effort…Ray.
