This week was Luke’s 50th game and we were without two of our best players and so I asked all of the boys to dig deep this week to make for the loss of Conor and Matthew. Across the board the boys lifted and showed tremendous heart. I like to throw the boys a challenge from time to time and this week it was Oran’s turn. We started him at Centre Half Back to cover for Matt and he was brilliant. He stopped numerous Applecross forward thrusts and generated turnovers repeatedly in the first half. With Jack, Darcy and Sam getting plenty of the ball and Warwick playing strongly up forward we were always going to generate scoring opportunities. A special mention should go to Corey who kicked two early goals when the other forwards couldn’t seem to find the ball. Jakob played the game of his life, totally dominating through the midfield. At times it was like he had brought his own football to the ground and was not prepared to share it with Applecross. Liam, Craig and Nick were again strong down back and I liked efforts of all the boys in Luke’s 50th. Three wins in a row for the first time for this side, a great way to end the season…Trevor.
