Groundskeeping help needed

April 11th, 2017

Hi Mums, Dads, and Caregivers,

Over the last four or five years, Tim Donohue has been a fantastic worker for the club.

On a fortnightly basis, he has been remarking the oval lines for our games on the weekend.

This has been a terrific cost saving for the club.

Unfortunately, Tim is unable to continue to fulfil this duty this year.

Is there anyone within the club who would like to step up and take this role on?

Our club survives on volunteers and community spirit and will benefit immensely if someone can take this role on in lieu of paying an official linemaker fortnightly.

Tim will work through it with you for the first couple of times. The lines will have already been marked, so it’s just following the lines.

So to prevent my email from crashing today from the overwhelming number of responses, can I please have all interested parties email me by Easter Monday?

Thank you,
Ross

From the President

October 29th, 2016

Hi Palmyra Junior Football Club parents, carers, kids and all!

Thank you all for a wonderful finish to the season.

Unfortunately the weather was a little unhelpful, but the day finished well with everyone getting trophies, team photos and pizzas! I hope you are all enjoying your spare Saturdays and Sundays prior to the summer sport kicking off.

The football club recently held its AGM; thank you to all who attended. The exciting news to come out of the AGM was we have had a number of new people join the committee.

Please join me in welcoming all new and returning committee members:
Vice President –  David Ivancich
Secretary – Katrina Johns
Treasurer – John Backhouse
Registrar –  Oly Sjerp
Coaching Coordinator –  Adrian Ivancich
Auskick Coordinator  – Marcus Oesiejak
First Aid Officer –  Rob Pini
Property –  Jim Muskarovsky
Canteen  – Jackie Hoogerwaard
General Committee  – Ryan Bacich, Jamie Kenny, Andrew Lindsay

Because costs have gone up — from umpire fees and ground fees to insurances and district fees — the club has had to raise prices across all age groups.
The club understands that increasing costs is not ideal but has the following discount in place to ease the burden. The club offers 15% discount on 2nd, 3rd child basis. The oldest child pays full fees, and the next child attracts the discount.

Pricing is now as follows:
Auskick $140
Years 3-6 $180
Years 7-12 $200

Now I understand this email is very early on in the piece and you are just getting over the football season, bt registration opens for Year 3 – Year 12 boys on November 1st 2016.
Auskick opens in January 2017.

President’s Welcome

March 18th, 2016

Dear Demon Members,

Hello and welcome to the Palmyra Junior Football Club season 2016, our 60th year. Firstly, I would like to introduce myself as the incoming President. My name is Ross MacKinnon; I have lived in Palmyra since 2006 and have been involved with the club since 2010. My eldest son Harry is heading into his 7th season at Pally, and my youngest, Alfie, is starting his footy career at the Pre-Primary level of Auskick. You may also recognise my wife Kate, who is in her 2nd year as Canteen Manager.

Clubs like Palmyra simply don’t exist without hours of work by tireless volunteers, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank two very important people our club is lucky enough to have around.

Renae Hughes has been the President of Pally for the last 3 years, and has done a mighty job. The club is very lucky to have someone with Renae’s passion to continue to drive the club forward. She has now taken the role of Vice President to show me the ropes. Thank you Renae.

Shaun Farrell was the Registrar of our club and has done an incredible job for 6 years. Taking registration from the old school written paper to the sporting pulse we have today. It has been a daunting and enormous job, but Shaun took it all in his stride. He will be staying on the committee as a general committee member and showing the ropes to Oly, who is our new register. Thank you Shaun.

So three cheers for these two outstanding stalwarts of the club

The season is fast approaching, and as mentioned, it is our 60th anniversary this year and we have planned an event to celebrate. On Saturday August 13th, we will be holding a 60th Year Cocktail Party at East Fremantle Oval that everyone who is, and has been, involved with the club, will be invited. Put this date in your diary, as it will be a fun night to celebrate our wonderful footy club. Also, make sure to let others who may no longer have contact with the club know about the night so they too can come along to celebrate. More details of the evening will follow shortly.

As mentioned, the season is nearly upon us, so we have a couple of Jumper Presentation nights coming up. The Year 12 boys will be presented their jumpers on Wednesday April 6th at 7pm, upstairs at the club, with their season kicking off on Sunday April 10th. The juniors jumper presentation will be held on Friday April 29th at 6pm on the oval, with their season starting on the weekend of Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st. Food and drinks will be provided on both nights for players and siblings.

There is a great tradition at our club, that started a couple of years ago, and that is the annual Year 6 Melbourne Footy Trip. It is happening again this year, with the travelling party heading off to the home of footy on Thursday July 7th for 4 days and nights of pure culture. There will be footy matches played and watched, tours of grounds and clubs and a whole heap of shenanigans going on for sure. It always proves to be a great trip and the kids who get the opportunity to go, should love and appreciate it. To help raise funds for the trip, there is a Quiz Night coming up on Friday May 6th. Information about this event will follow shortly from the folks organising the night.

Lastly, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the committee for 2016.
